Tis' the Season...

So Christmas is literally days away and I have yet to find the perfect gift for my older sister...who am I kidding she's totally gonna end up with a gift card. I hate to sound like a total Scrooge but the truth of the matter is that I think Christmas presents are totally over rated!
Don't get me wrong, I love to see the joy in my kids faces when they open their gifts. The gifts that completely ripped deep into my checking accounts...or swallowed up any form of a hard working bonus. I remember when I was younger we got bags of fruit and boxes of candy canes. Our parents bought our main gifts which was the outfit we wore on Christmas day and one toy of choice, usually a doll. My fondest memories of Christmas was running around the house playing hide and seek with my two favorite cousins, J and J. We play and play until we fought and then makeup and play again!
That's not the case anymore, I cant just go off any buy a couple of hot wheels and a doll that says "mama". This year alone I bought three separate consoles for each child and still have to purchase the games and the cool little cases they go in, and those were just their main gifts! I did however, manage to convince both sides of our families to draw names. My kids are kinda bummed that they'll receive less gifts, but our family seems to be growing every year so took to the idea.

It is extremely important to me that my kids are happy and satisfied, it just sucks that it takes so much money to do it...lol. I decided that next year Id like to adopt a family. I want my kids to understand the gift of giving. They don't know what its like to only have the bare necessities of life. I try to explain that some kids don't get presents and are lucky to even have a tree. I hope to make this a tradition and give them a better understanding the true meaning of Christmas!
