New year...fresh start :)

This year has gotten off to a slow start. This being good, we haven’t had much drama and we’re sticking to our everyday routines. We brought in the New Year at R and P’s…thank goodness for them. They really go out of their way to welcome us as immediate family. We finished up football season and were bummed that the Cowboy’s didn’t go all the way…they still did better than expected. Bubba has been working out during off season and has spent a ton of time with the hubby’s new BFF “M” aka cousin S fiancé.

I’ve made a few changes myself and have ventured out on a quest to get healthy. I’ve tried losing weight in the past and have been partially successful, but this time I want to change my eating habits for good. I realize the older I get, the harder it will be to lose weight or keep up with my teens for that matter. My kids are so active, something they surely didn’t pick up from me, I don’t want to be a hypocrite by encouraging them to eat healthy and work harder all while standing there with a soda and snickers in hand. I am so proud and astonished by my cousin A’s accomplishment of 40lbs lost….KUDOS to you love!

My parents came to visit for V-day, it’s always nice to see them…I tend to forget how much time has passed when they’re not around. I spent a lot of time with Mother and the girl’s, I miss that the most…and Sissy too.

I’m bummed that she finally found someone she really cares about and he in return and I’m not there to see it. She doesn’t need my approval, even though I’ve drilled that in her head, but I want to know who he is and watch them flourish together too. I’m anxious to go home in March for Spring break, the kids will spend the week in Lubbock and I can see my family for a wknd. I need a haircut in the worst way, my hair is super long and too heavy for the upcoming heat.

It snowed here the other week, it tickled me to see the reaction of those here who hadn’t seen snow in over 25yrs. It was beautiful and reminded me of home, one winter in particular when my Tio L built us an igloo…a real igloo! I do hope it warms soon…my family has had the crud all week and I’m ready to put up the sweaters :)
