March Maddness...

Week 1:Prepared for Lil L's visit and Twinkies overdue PJ Party I convinced my buddy to come down and help out with the twins PJ Party i' d been promising them since last December. I knew she'd do it, seeing as how her life is full of drama and she would be more than willing to take a break from all the stresses. She came down on a Friday afternoon, just as I got home from work. I'd called my cousin R earlier in the week, hoping he'd be willing to show us a good time. Luckily he'd forgiven me for giving him the run around from the weekend before. FYI, my cousin R is a gorgeous gay man who is a ton of fun to be around. We met him somewhere do wntown and headed straight out...needless to say we had a BLAST! The next morning we woke up and got dressed for a soccer game...woohoo! The girls did well and we rushed home to get ready for a b-day party. I returned a few calls, picked up a little girl from her booth sell, and dropped her and the Twinkies ...

V-day w/Our Besties...

I had an awesome weekend! Our best friends came to visit this weekend and brought Bubba with them. J my dearest and oldest friend happens to be married to hubby's cousin, needless to say we are very close. She's the one person who knows my deepest and darkest secrets (I know hers as well) and would have my back in a heartbeat. They drove in early Saturday morning, early as in 4am. We woke up around nine, had breakfast, and rushed to Twinkies first outdoor game of the season. It didn't bother us that we ended up having a girls day out with the baby girls. We took the girls to the Purple Cow, an old fashioned burger joint with delicious purple milkshakes. Next, was a stop at the mall to pick-up yet another Build-a-Bear. We were anxious to take K since she'd never been to one before, she picked out a kitty and named it after her dog (silly kid). The guys took the boys to Amazing Jake's and ended up at the house doing typical male things, like ...

It's finally over...

Football season is officially over...YES!!! There's nothing like spending Sunday afternoons with the family in front of a flat screen watching a bunch of overpaid men wrestle for a ball. I no longer have to keep the mini fridge filled (not that it stayed that way) and can finally hang up Hubby's over worn Cowboy's jersey. The Cowboy's had a horrible season and didn't even make it to the playoffs. We joined hubby's family at R and P's and watched as the Steelers defeated the Cardinals by the skin of their teeth for Super Bowl XLIII. This win officially puts them in the lead for the team with the most Super Bowl wins, six to be exact. Thus, pushing ahead of the Cowboys measly five wins...hehe. Don't get me wrong, I love the Cowboy's and would be willing to pay a couple of hundred for a really good game. I wasn't really interested in this years bowl like I've been in the past. R thought it would be a good i...

A break from reality...

I love fortune cookies, the concept itself is kinda cool. You get a nice sweet treat and a little message of hope. Little things like that are definitely worth taking a second to read. I hate when people go through a whole day without taking a small break from reality, a second to smile, a moment to breathe. I keep a stash of Dove dark chocolate in my office, the little cubed shaped ones wrapped in red foil. I have to restrict myself from overindulging in what I call my brain food, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I always open them carefully to prevent ripping through the messages. I got the idea from my old buddy A, she was such a sweetie, she'd come out and hand everyone a little piece of heaven. Every once in a while I feel like I have to get away from everything. I strongly believe in personal time, you should feel obligated to give yourself some "you" time and get away from reality for a couple of hours. I usually take the day off and hangout, I'll...

A day in history...

Image
The beginning of an era of change, the first African American to hold office as the 44th President of the United States. I turned on my truck radio to listen to the inauguration and couldn't help thinking how I knew I would forever remember this day. The historic day that Barack Obama pledged his promises to the people of the United States. It was one of those moments when you remember exactly what you were doing, like September 11th. It made me excited to get through the day and drive home to watch it on TV. I absorbed his every word and wondered if everyone else had been moved as well. We've all heard these promises and waited as our expectations failed to be met. There is something in his confidence and strength that make you believe. He makes you want to achieve and push yourself. Most importantly, he's a family man and clearly puts them first. He may not be able to fix the nation, but I think he will definitely put us on the road there!

Twin A's Little Crooked Pinkie

So I got up crazy early and slightly hungover to make the girls 8am pickup. I was the only mother there on time, seeing as how everyone was still asleep. Anyways, I grabbed the girls and headed back straight to my big oversized comfty bed. Needless to say, we didn't make it to church...I know I know...my mother feels the same way. We didn't end up going to R for a BBQ either. They headed out to Kileen because their nephew was in from overseas and they didn't want to miss the opportunity. The girls and I hung out all day playing on the internet and completed Twin B's "Six Flags Over Texas" project. We finally got dressed and headed out to the girls soccer game around 6:30pm. I took a few snapshots of the girls while they warmed up. I do this all the time cause I'm a memory freak and I want the kids to remember every moment. I overheard another parent talking about the team the girls were about to play and was forced to consider the possibility of the...

My Busy Weekend

Image
So we had an awesome time last nite with the R family. I'm so happy we finally got the chance to meet up and have dinner. I can't say I was nervous but I was a little concerned on whether or not we would be able to hold a conversation after all these years. I was stoked that the guys got along well too and hope that we can get together often. The highlight of the night was by far their gorgeous one year old daughter. She stole the night from the moment we got there carefully observing every detail about the strangers her parents were so friendly with. I've never seen such a small child be so cautious about who she befriended. She demanded both her parents attention, particularly while performing "Where is Thumb Kin". What a cutie! The girls had another party today at 1pm. I dropped them off and ra n to the store to buy a gift for both her and Hubby's cousin R. When I got back to the party the kids were ready to perform. I slid in line with a few other paren...

Weekend Couch Potato

So I've had plenty of rest this week. The girls and I watched a marathon of one of their favorite shows, we ordered in several times, and have only left the house once this weekend to purchase medicine. Hubby has had a severe toothache, but won't let me schedule anything. I feel bad for him because it looks like he's in so much pain. He came home from work yesterday around noon, took two extra strength Tylenol and a shot of NyQuil, we didn't see him for the rest of the day....poor guy. We've been trying to make it back to D's to leave their Christmas gifts but feel obligated to take my husband since they're his relatives. Twin A is also coming down with something, she ran fever last nite and complained of stomach cramps today. I gave her some meds and put a warm towel on her belly to soothe the cramps. I couldn't find the heating pad, I'm sure it's in one of the boxes in the garage that I have yet to unpack. Twin B and I are just bumming around, ...
